Cat 5 political hurricane

Image
Politico posted a article yesterday titled "Trump drags hurricane Helene into 2024 campaign". Trump was speaking at one of his rally's when he noted that neither Biden or Harris had been to the disaster sight in either North Carolina, Georgia, or Florida. Biden, instead is at his beach house, which would be a story but it is nothing new for the current president. How is it that Trump is at fault for bringing up disaster relief efforts, when that is all Politico did. In a 2017 piece titled "Is Trump's response to Hurricane Harvey enough" it seems like it is ok to attack a candidate based on relief efforts. They even commented on some of his attributes, seemingly to be negative. " The White House released photos Sunday showing Trump, with a trademark tough-guy look and a white USA hat, at a conference table at the Camp David retreat leading a teleconference of his senior staff on how to handle Hurricane Harvey, which the National Weather Service has descr...

Debate 2 is not happening.

Image
Harris, this week, accepted a CNN invitation to be in a future debate against Trump. However, Trump says it is "too late" for another debate. "T he problem with another debate is that it's just too late, voting has already started,"  Trump said , adding: "Now she wants to do a debate right before the election with CNN because she's losing badly." (Suarez Sang, 2024) .  The only problem with this debate is the fact that early voting starts in a couple weeks in some states. I'm not convinced that it would be a bad idea for Trump, but he thinks so. The problem with only having one debate lies in the fact that we had a switch of candidate in July. It is only the democrats to blame for not having enough time. We had one of the earliest debates ever because they wanted to see if Biden was capable, which he was not. The other issue is that Kamala will not feature herself on a conservative leaning network, while Trump has constantly gone to the other s...

Fact check:

Image
The debate between VP Harris and former president Donald Trump was almost a week ago and the reactions to the debate are interesting. I think consensually all can agree that Trump was not on his A game, like in the debate with Biden. What I mean by that is that He was not as reserved and took the bait from VP Harris every time. He didn't stay on issue because he felt the need to address everything Kamala was saying.  However, it didn't help that he was fact checked, rightfully so if needed, but VP Harris was never pushed on a range of lies. First, it has been disproven and debunked that Trump would support an abortion ban nationwide. Any candidate that supported that wouldn't sniff a victory in 2024. No push back from the moderators at all for that, and instead of answering a question with the allotted two minuets, Trump was left using some of the time to defend Himself. Another example is project 2025. Project 2025 has been a talking point for the Dems ever since it was br...

Debate week: How has the coverage been for each candidate?

Image
It is the first debate between Harris and Trump for the 2024 election. Harris has been the candidate for about a month and some change, while Trump has been the expected nominee since before the primary. ABC will be hosting this debate and some interesting research has been conducted on how they treat Harris V Trump. " A new study by the Media Research Center finds that, of the Big Three evening newscasts, ABC’s  World News Tonight  — run by debate moderator David Muir — has been the most positive towards Harris and the most hostile to Trump" (Noyes).   This research comes out 2 days before the debate. David Muir, who hosts the nightly news on ABC will host this debate. His coverage included 25 clearly positive statements for Harris and her campaign, while Trump received 5 clearly positive comments and 66 negative. That is a 100% positivity rate for Harris and a 7% positivity rate for Trump. This does not include no negativity, however, just not from the media mouth...

Did the media hide Biden's mental decline?

Image
As we all all know now in September 2024, President Biden has dropped out of the race. However, was it a shock or was it expected? Some would say it was a shock because of what the media outlets, (Joe Scarborough) were saying about Biden.  "No, I just always told people that he's — the president is very sharp. If you say something or write something, there have been times he’s called and he’s refuted it very sharply. I’ve talked to foreign leaders that have had conversations with him that said that he was on top of every issue," ( Scarborough Says Biden ‘Is So Sharp’). If one would have listened to Joe Scarborough's analysis on President Biden, maybe it was a shock to see the president in such decline on the debate stage. However, it wasn't just Scarborough pushing Biden's excelling mental fitness, it was also Kamala Harris. Harris had this to say when Special Counsel Robert Hur's reporting broke about Biden's mental fitness " gratuitous, inaccur...
